this is the second kindle i have purchased, i bought one of the old type 2 1/2 years ago and after reading around 700 books on it the screen wore out but now with the new one the screen is much better than the old one when it was new.
the only thing i think they missed out on was the ability to fit a memory card and also the ability to change the battery by myself i use to carry a spare battery for when i was traveling just in case it ran out but now it is not possible for me to change it but all in all it is a great product. |

I am already a big fan after limited use.
But I'm spending the next fortnight in the tropics of Solomon Islands. So I will find out just how durable it is. |

I recently purchased a kindle, taking advantage of the price decrease. I also took advantage of the special price offered for the international plug recharge cord , as i am an Australian customer, and got the leather cover at the same time. I am very happy with the kindle. It looks good, it's light to hold,the pages are easy to see and the books download quick and easy. No problem downloading to Australia. I'm glad I got the cord included it's better not to have to hook up to the computer to recharge. I'm also glad i got the leather cover to protect the kindle as i think they need this protection. Took about out 15 minutes to get used to reading on the kindle as the pages are smaller and you have to get a certain rhythm going, after that, no problem. I love my kindle and think there will be future birthday presents of kindles in our house as well. |

How did I ever read books the old way? |
In 2009 my wife was thinking of buying a Kindle for me for birthday/anniversary/Christmas (honestly I cannot remember which occasion) but I had told her "No, I'm not interested in that". Turn the calendar to March 2010 and I decided to spend some tax refund money on a "splurge" item and I don't know why but it hit me "I need a Kindle".
I'd heard nothing but good reviews from co-workers and friends about the device and even though I knew the iPad was coming out in April I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and I have not looked back.
My ONLY regret is that just under 3 months after making purchase Associateeasy LOWERED the price of the 6" Kindle to $190 (down from $250) AND in the past week they announced a new version this Fall that will hold more books and one that has a WiFi only option which is only $140 I believe. That's unfortunate because the WiFi only option would work perfect for me since I don't travel that often and even if I did I would load up my book before leaving or while in the airport; I don't take advantage (yet) of the daily/monthly subscriptions available via the Kindle (NY Times, WSJ, The Atlantic, etc).
I literally do not believe I could read a hardback or even paperback version of a book after having purchased this device. It's so lightweight, even with the case and light I ended up purchasing for it. I would STRONGLY recommend that you purchase a light for this device as it does not have one built in PLUS you can get lights that really focus the light so you won't keep your partner up late at night reading :-) This device has definitely changed the way I view books and I can only hope that more and more titles will continue to be added to Associateeasy's library over the coming years.
p.s. Battery life is FANTASTIC! |

Hoped I had waited 3 more weeks for the new one |

I love my kindle, but I don't like the short life of the battery. I have had my second one for only three weeks and now the new one is out. I wished I had waited. I read a lot, so pushing the "next page" button is killing my thumb. I love the free books and the availablity of not having to store books on my shelves. Lets not forget saving a few trees too. Overall I would say my Kindle rocks. |
